This is Halloween | The Corpse Bride

Last weekend consisted of a belated Halloween Party at my friends apartment. As you can see, she looks rather marvellous and I look down right hideous - but when in Rome and all that jazz. (Right?) 

I had such a fun time getting ready and just HAD to show you the wig (I think this particular one is out of stock now, but there's one very similar available here!). I don't know if you've seen, but over the past month or so I've been filming a few videos on another channel - Annabelle's Wigs, showing ladies various tutorials and how to's on their fab wigs / hair pieces. If you want to have a nose you can do so here.

Anyway, back to the outfit! I am a huge fan of Tim Burton (Nightmare Before Christmas being my all time fave movie). So it seemed obvious for me to go as one of his characters! I dressed up as The Corpse Bride and did the following to achieve my look:

1. I applied Stargazer White Foundation to my whole face using the Real Techniques buffing brush. This foundation is SO cheap and I feel probably a little bit kinder to your skin than face paint. 
2. Using the Real Techniques Blush Brush I lightly dusted my face with a dark blue shade from the MUA Starry Night Palette. 
3. Then, using a random eye shadow brush I contoured the curves of my skull / face i.e. eye sockets, temples, cheekbones and collar bone with the MUA palette focusing on the darker shades of blue and black.  
4. I then used the same darker shades on my eyes covering the lid in blue and hollowing out around the edges with black. I applied my usual liquid black winged eyeliner (video on how to do this here), pencil black eyeliner to the waterline and drew false eye lashes on to my eye lids with the liquid eyeliner to give the illusion of larger eyelashes. To finish the eyes I applied my false eyelashes (eyelure) and coated with thick black mascara. 
5. To complete the makeup I used black pencil eyeliner to fill in my brows, flicking them up in the center to give the impression of being sad, and filled in my lips with the Revlon Lip Stain in Crush, adding a touch of black eye shadow to the creases of the lips.
6. I popped on my wig and Crown and Glory customised headband and was good to go!

It took me about half an hour to do and I was quite pleased with the results :)

BAF's >> Conquistadora Edition

If you know me, then you know that I love BAF's, or what I often refer to as, "Bad Ass Females". Dangerous and cool. Mysterious and curiously deceptive. Intriguing and alluring. Confident and sharp as a whip. Today's look is inspired by a real-life BAF of the past, Ines de Suarez, a Spanish conquistadora (female conquistador) and mistress to Pedro de Valdivia who participated in the Conquest of Chile, successfully defending Santiago against a Mapuche attack in 1541. Here's a little excerpt to explain the bad-assery that is Ines de Suarez:

"Suárez proposed that Spaniards decapitate the seven and toss their heads out among the Indians in order to frighten them. There was some objection to the plan, since several men felt that the fall of the city was imminent and that the captive caciques would be their only bargaining advantage with the Indians. Suárez insisted that hers was the only viable solution to their problem. She then went to the house where the chieftains were guarded by Francisco Rubio and Hernando de la Torre and gave the order for the execution. Mariño de Lobera tells that the guard, La Torre, asked, "In what manner shall we kill them, my lady?" "In this manner," she replied, and, seizing la Torre’s sword, she herself cut off the heads.

After the seven were decapitated and their heads thrown out among the Indians, Suárez donned a coat of mail and a helmet and, throwing a hide cloak over her shoulders, she rode out on her white horse. According to an eyewitness, "...she went out to the plaza and put herself in front of all the soldiers, encouraging them with words of such exaggerated praise that they treated her as if she were a brave captain,...instead of a woman masquerading as a soldier in iron mail."

Good Morning Rochester!

October Joliebox | Let's talk Organic

Can you believe it's November already? (cliche of the month). I cannot fathom it's only one more pay day until Christmas, that is seriously scary. Any way, end of the month means Joliebox time, I can't wait to share all my lovely jubbly products with you guys :) And how amazing is it to see Fleur on the cover of the JolieMag?!

Jason – Lips Bee Healthier (RRP £1.99): This little lip balm is one of the loveliest things to ever grace my lips. I opened it and instantly thought ‘where are the after eights?’ it smells just like them! So as you can imagine, it had me at hello. It’s filled to the brim with Beeswax, Vitamin E, Green Tea, Aloe Vera Gel, Shea Butter, Almond Oil and Peppermint Oil *takes a breath* phew, that’s a lorra products in one little balm isn’t it? It is so unbelievably moisturizing and feels so much more expensive than it’s teeny tiny price tag. Trust me, you need it.

Ritessens Exfoliating Face Care: As many of you know, when I find a skincare that fits with my problematic skin I don’t like to budge from it. So when I saw this in the box I was a little skeptical. But I think that’s one of the things that I love about the beauty boxes, they push you to try those products you might have been too scared to test or haven’t heard of before. So, I whipped it out the box and gave it a run for it’s money. Being a natural product I knew it would be kind to my crappy skin and it felt so lovely and soft even with the exfoliant beads. It didn’t irritate my skin and there are no heavy fragrances in it, so I think it’s a keeper! Plus it’s a full sized product which is amazing.

Løv Organic Herbal Tea (RRP tin £9.90): This, is frickin’ amazing. Not only is the little sample packaging too cute for words, but it tastes like heaven in a muslim tea bag. It’s an organic blend of white tea, green tea and green rooibos with little bits of peach, apricot, mango and pineapple to make it extra refreshing and scrummy. The texture of the tea is also surprisingly lovely. I find with most fruit teas they can be quite watery, but this was almost syrupy – without being thick and gross. I just can’t get over how fab they are. I got 6 in my sample box, and I’d drink them all at the same time if I could!

MOA Balm (RRP from £4.99): YAY for affordable, 100% natural products. This is so lovely and ticks so many skincare boxes for me. There’s no fragrance, it’s multi-purpose and it’s suitable for sensitive skin. I’ve been using this on my hands, face and elbows and honestly it’s amazing. It’s a little different from a typical moisturizer, coming in a wax formulation. You rub the wax between your fingers and then apply to the needed area. I’m particularly impressed with how great it’s been on my face. I suffer with an oily t-zone and thought my face might hate it a little but it’s been soaking up all the goodness and controlling my oil fabulously! Super impressed.

Soin Parfait Ulitmate BB Cream (RRP£29.90): I haven’t tried this out yet. I must admit I haven’t hopped on the BB cream bandwagon yet. I’m a bit scared of them to be honest. Although this does promise an anti-blemish complexion with anti-ageing care and SPF25 I think it’s probably a bit marvelous. I’m just so attached to my fuller coverage foundation, but I think I should probably just bite the bullet and see where it takes me!

I’m ruddy impressed yet again with Jolieboxand how much thought goes into these wonderful boxes. Pretty sure this box was made for me.

Minnie Mouse in da Haus

Ah, Disney. Not a fan. BUT, I love me some iconic imagery, a la, my Minnie mouse sweater. I love it in the same way that Andy loved his Campbell's soup, Coca Cola, and Marilyn Monroe. Warhol's Mickey Mouse prints are in the Tate today, and are part of a series called Myths; alongside images of Santa Claus, Uncle Sam, and SuperMan. Take it away, Andy...

I Heart Fall | TAG! Video

Me, in a puddle...

Fall - or as we like to call it here in England, autumn, is literally my favourite time of year. Not only does it mean we’re super close to Christmas (53 days to be exact, squeee! Yes that’s right I AM one of thosepeople), but it means that the weather starts to cool, the woolly jumpers and bobble hats can come out to play and for me, it means a time for family. I just love it.

Which is why I thought this video was perfect. ‘I Heart Fall’ - is my first tag, and I really enjoyed making it. Although - I hope you guys can forgive me for being a Starbucks hater, waaaa.
