Anniversary Shop | Outfit Post

My boyfriend and I will have been together for 5 years in January. It seems like absolutely forever but then feels like absolutely no time at all - all at the same time, if you know what I mean? Usually for our anniversary we just make each other a card and go out for dinner or something - but being the 5 year mark we thought it might be nice to buy each other something special. We'll be in Australia on the actual date so it was an early present shop! And what better opportunity for an outfit post? Haha. We went to Birmingham (gotta love the bullring and the Christmas Market!) and this is what I wore:
Blouse: c/o Mina. Leggings: Topshop. Bag: c/o Marc B. Boots: H by Hudson of London
This is literally the prettiest, most wonderfully made and comfortable blouse I own. Mina is a little bit more of a luxury brand so it's slightly more pricey but it's absolutely worth every penny. It fits like a glove and the quality is incredible. I feel slightly androgynous in it and of course it goes hand in hand with my beloved Topshop velvet leggings that don't seem to be coming off me lately.
When shopping I also require a suitable bag, as I take near enough everything I own in life with me on a trip, it's gotta be pretty large - I received so many comments from sales assistants in the Bullring about this little beauty. I have a bit of a massive crush on Marc B bags - this one is only £55 and the quality is insane. it's also pretty hefty so I'm thinking I might quite like using it as an overnight bag as well as my shopping companion!

If you nosy parkers are wondering what we both got for our anniversary gifts don't worry I was always planning on telling you ;) Daniel got a pretty gorgeous Hugo Boss watch and I picked a beautiful ring from Alex Monroe - I've had my eye on it for a while and it is very welcomed in to my ever growing collection of his pieces. Thinking I might do a little post on the bits I have from him, would you like to see that?

Hope you are all having a good week - and have you managed to get all your Christmas shopping done yet? Eeek!!!

SEXY PSA

Being the true fashionista that I am, I do not dress myself with even the slightest thought of what a man would think about my ensemble. (I’m sorry general male population, but you’re just not on my level.) I dress, first and foremost, to please myself and as a form of self expression. And secondly, I cannot lie to you, I do feel a sense of accomplishment when my styling genius impresses other women. (Don’t you?!) Sometimes, I want to look a little sexy...like my cheeky little ensemble that I am featuring today. I grabbed my boyfriend’s button down and paired it with a sheer black maxi skirt and my new boots. Generally speaking, I’m pretty covered up. But when the light hits my sheer skirt just so, I am flashing some serious leg.

So, feelin’ kinda saucy, my boyfriend and I went out for some some beers and appetizers. Now in general, my ensembles have a tendency to garner some stares when out in public. And I don’t mind, they’re just doing it because I’m dressed differently/fabulously/weirdly/whatever-ly. However, in this particular ensemble, and with one particularly drab looking group of females....I could tell it was a different kind of stare. (I can intuitively pick up on body language.) Basically, they thought I was dressed "slutty".

Remember that whole Madonna/Whore complex we learned about in college; ya know, how men can only categorize women into one category or the other? Well, I think in today’s modern world women have a tendency to judge each other based on this same philosophy. And ya know, it was making me oddly self conscious. It’s like...ladies, why can’t you just let me sit here rockin’ my sexy look and I will let you guys sit over there rockin’ your kinda look. Even if there was a chica there wearing booty shorts and pasties, I would applaud her for her bravery and let her do the damn thing. That’s not my style; but we don’t got no beef. We’ve just got different things going on! Anyways, I decided not to let them rain on my parade, cuz I was having a fabulous time with my boyfriend and I am intelligent enough to realize that dressing in a way that makes you feel sexy and desired does not make you a slut. Plus, I looked pretty damn fierce...AM I RIGHT?! Moral of the story: Ladies, we are all multifaceted creatures so lets stop being so damn judgmental. END OF PSA, thank you.

Luxe Grunge

I’m just a little bit obsessed with the whole luxe/grunge 90’s plaid trend that we have going on right now. (Throwing that out there in case you’ve failed to notice.) I remember wearing an eerily similar outfit when I was around age 6...lime green plaid pants with a fuzzy lime green sweater. The whole ensemble was from Limited Too...OBVI! Clearly my love for plaid has not waned; I scored these men’s golf pants at my fave pile sale. Paired them with (another) anogora sweater and I am feeling some early-Gwen; realness...with just a dash of country club. I borrowed Britt’s Karen Walker knock-off sunnies and doubled up on some watches that I stole from my Dad’s collection. Wore this out for a night out at VLVT Lounge where I partied with some of my fave Queens; Pandora Boxx and Shannel from Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

Vintage sweater. Vintage pants. Charlotte Russe boots. Dad's watches. Brit's Sunglasses from a random kiosk.

BIRTHDAY DRESS

Look at this ridiculous dress I wore for my birthday celebration over the weekend. (Quarter of a century!) I like to think this leopard print, fishnet, body-con maxi dress belonged to an international super-villain stripper in another life...which is exactly the look I was going for. My boyfriend surprised me with some brand new Via Spiga boots, a suite at the Standard in Downtown LA, and a surprise party with my fave people’s on the rooftop. We danced, drank, got rained on, and ate breakfast together at 2AM. It was definitely one of those "Once in a Lifetime" by Talking Heads kinda nights...just magical.

Thrifted maxi dress. Random black slip dress. Via Spiga boots. F21 jewelry.

Holiday Shopping in Pittsford Village

Tomorrow is Pittsford's Candle Light Night and six Main Street businesses have partnered to promote holiday shopping in the Village of Pittsford.

To celebrate the season and encourage a stroll down Main Street, each participating business is offering a joint shopping card with $10 off a purchase of $35 or more.  The Pittsford Shopping Card has a value of $60 and can be picked up at any of the participating stores.  Store include:  SJ's Village Boutique, Chandeliers Boutique & Accessories, Embrasse-Moi, Life is Good, Sullivan Shoes, and Salon Bella Vita.

You can find gifts for everyone on your list, all while sipping a latte and strolling alongside the historic buildings on Main Street.  This unique charm cannot be found in a mall, so support small business, shop local, and save some money with The Pittsford Shopping Card this holiday season.
