Dressing for work when you don’t have a dress code can be tricky in the summer – especially with the weather we're having, it’s sweltering!! (I'm not complaining)

The thing I find myself most nervous of is dressing inappropriately – what’s too short? What’s too low-cut? It main seem a little ridiculous, but yes, these are real problems in my life haha. To be honest I think this dressis the perfect combination. It’s a shift dress so it’s not too tight or low cut (always a bonus), it also has a lovely length to it so there’s no need to be concerned about showing too much thigh. I particularly love the contrasting black and lime panelling and the collar detail – ooh and the capped sleeves (okay, so I particularly love all of it apparently). Not only is it my new staple for work attire it’s also perfect for other occasions such as dinner or perhaps a graduation – which is what I wore it to the other day :)

Beloved is a brand I've pretty much fallen head over heels for and I've got my eyes on this little beauty to add to my ever-growing dress collection!

Well that smashing weather lasted all five bloody seconds – can’t say I’m not a little miffed about it. Nonetheless it’s still slightly warm enough to pop on a little summer dress and beef it up with some woolly tights and booties.

Green and blue are my favourite colours but oddly I don’t really have that many items of clothing reflecting my love for them! So of course this dress is a welcomed addition to my S/S collection..the fabric is so light and bouncy making it hang beautifully. I was a little put off when I opened it to see a giant dress but I quickly spotted the pull-ties in the middle to tuck it in nicely to your waist; meaning it will be a dress that you can pretty much keep in your wardrobe forever regardless of whether you pop on a few pounds or not. If I’m being honest I think this dress was actually made for me – it has so many attributes I look for in a piece of clothing, a collar, detailed buttons and a loose, flattering fit to name but a few.

I also kinda broke my spending ban, whoopsy – but my head was cold and needed a new hat to keep it warm, plus it’s pretty and will go with everything. 

I’ve been feeling really quite crap about my blog this week and I can’t put my finger on why. I just feel like I’m getting a bit bored with myself and that that’s probably showing through on my posts because it all feels a little, odd. I know that us bloggers have these phases and they come and go but when you’re in the middle of it, it feels like forever. Perhaps it might be an idea to take a break for a little while, although I’m bursting with posts to write left right and centre...bluh what am I like!

Anyway on a brighter note - TGIF!!!! I’m sure I’m not the only one who was thankful for the long weekend just gone, it’s lovely to have a slightly shorter week, isn’t it? Do you have many plans for this weekend? 

Daisy Day

Hallelujah for the amazing weather we had over the weekend. I know every British blogger and his/her dog will be waffling on about how wonderful the weather was and no, I won’t be an exception!

The absolute beaut that is Kim from Ever Ours kindly sent me this little flowery number and her timing couldn’t have been more perfect. I absolutely HATE my legs but I was sweltering in my tights come 12pm yesterday so I had to whip them off and get the pasty pins out. I am head over heels in love with this dress – A. It’s swishy, B. It has daisies on it and C. It is so girly it may as well come with a tiara (that’s a good thing btw). The fabric is just light enough to wear in hotter weather, but thick enough that I’m going to be able to team it with some chunky boots and tights in the winter. But my favourite part has to be the sleeves, it’s cut perfectly and it’s an absolute steal at only £18.

Daniel and I spent our weekend house hunting (we found a rather dreamy cottage, I shall keep you posted), going to the gym (I know, I’m surprised at myself) and taking a little trip to Foxton Locks before visiting some friends for drinks. It was rather lovely to be honest and very chilled – just what I needed as I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed with life in general as of late.

I couldn’t wait to put on my little sandals – they’re from brand called F-Troupe who have the best shoes, ever. They are an expensive make but I picked these up in their sale last year for £15 WOOHOO so if they have something you like it’s worth doing some hunting to see if you can grab a bargain too!

This week I have made no plans, except to sort life-ness and of course watch the final of Suits.

Comfort is Key | Outfit Post

If you’ve been reading this little slice of online fashion junk for a while, you may have picked up on the fact that I don’t do tighty mc tighterson dresses very often. I’m just not really all that comfortable in them and spend the majority of my time pulling them down until they’re stretched out of shape! I am far happier to prance around in a loosely fitted number that doesn’t ‘hug’ me too tightly. I think classy casual has pretty much been my dress sense since I left my teens.

Lashes of London is one of my favourite stores and this dress felt like it was made for me. It’s neutral in colour (I don’t really do bold) so is perfect in my eyes. for any time of year. It has sequins, which helps to dress up any outfit and it’s wearable. By that I mean I could throw this on for near enough any occasion – a wedding, a night out, shopping. And that’s why I love it, because it’s totally versatile.

As always, I opted for the more casual approach. Teamed with this rather spiffing Zara hat (£12 in the sale, HOLLA), and my new Urban Outffiters boots it was perfect attire  yesterday for a spot of lunch with Daniel and his Nan :)

Much to my excitement, I recently won the fantabulous Sugarhill Boutique giveaway over on Leanne Marie's blog. I always enter giveaways (that I sincerely want to win) and I'm sure they're fixed, because I never win and I totally should win. You know what I'm sayin'? But I have been proven wrong, because I totally won! :D woooohoooo!

I was able to pick an item of my choice from the website which was extremely tricky as I wanted everything. But I decided, instead of going for something simple or similarish to what I already have that I would go a bit crazy. (Yes I know it's not crazy, but it sort of is, right?). Cards on a dress? I kinda love it.

I just absolutely love this dress. The floaty material feels so expensive and although it's sheer, it has a lovely little underlining in it, so no need to bother with a slip underneath, or flashing boobage; which makes it surprisingly warm and cosy :). This is the only pussybow tied item I own, and I think on my frame it's quite flattering. You know, no hips or boobs etc. ;) and I love the button detail to the front. It's just a complete winner in my eyes.
It will also become apparent over these winter months, that yup, the only things that live on my feet are my Hudson boots. I just love them, okay? So forgive me for the lack of variety in the shoe department!

White Party

I had a BLAST at Rochester's first ever White Party.  Spent the night dancing, drinking, and chatting with the most beautiful people (inside and out).  It was a wonderful night supporting a wonderful cause.

Outfit Post | My Fairy Princess Dress

Whilst I can’t wait to share some of my holiday snaps with you lovely lot, I couldn't resist writing about my massively gorgeous new dress first. It’s always such a yummy feeling to come home from a trip away to a mountain of post, and as soon as I spotted this package I couldn’t wait to rip it open to reveal the contents....

 You will probably notice a trend with my outfits…I very rarely opt for the skin tight dresses or skirts; I just don’t find them overly flattering on my figure. Instead, my love lies with anything floaty or ‘swishy’ (yes, I went for the word swishy). That’s why this dress is my idea of heaven; I must admit I feel like a bit of a woodland fairy princess in this. And let's face it, what girl doesn't want to feel like a fairy princess?! (please say I'm not alone here..) Not only does it tick my swishy wishes, it is literally the easiest thing to wear ever. It’s perfect for this summer weather we appear to be having, and will slot nicely into my winter wardrobe too, teamed with some black tights and brogues.

The lace detail to the front and petticoat is a particular favourite; but the very best part about this dress is that it costs only £24!!! YES, £24 I spluttered at the screen when I read it too. The intricate detail alone makes it worthy of a far heftier price tag in my eyes. And the quality is something that overtakes some of the top high street brands. I couldn’t wait to wack out my little satchel again, and thought it would work well with my Camden loafers. Infact, I think I might wear it again this evening to see Michael Mcintyre (cue excitement overload!!).

Glitter Egg

As it was Easter Sunday this weekend, I thought a few drinky-poos were in order, well, it would be rude not too wouldn’t it? And this is what I wore:

Virgoslounge are a London based women’s brand, bringing a vintage feel to current fashion trends. They started following me on Twitter, so as you do, I had a little peek at their page, which followed on to their website, which followed on to a few cheeky purchases. Eep. I instantly fell in love with the brand and this dress, which retails at £49.99, and obviously the velvet leggings I’m wearing, costing £50.

I was so sad when the dress arrived, as it was just that little bit too big. I had ordered a size 8, as size 6 wasn’t supplied at that time. But size 6’s fear not!! They are going to be introducing this size in all future designs on this dress *phew*; so I’ll definitely be purchasing that when it’s released. (I hear new colour variations are expected too, ooh lala). I ordered my leggings in an S (this has now changed and are available in sizes 4,6 etc) they are super comfortable, the perrrrfect fit. Plus, they hug my bum, which is hard because my bum is pretty non-existent *sobs*.

Now, I know some of you may be saying, this is a wee bit pricey. And yes, I would agree, they are slightly more expensive than your standard purchase. However, it’s SO worth it! Plus, they are regularly promoting special offers (follow them on twitter to hear the latest, @VIRGOSLOUNGE); for example, I purchased my leggings & dress on a 30% off offer, costing me approx £70 for both, which I think is a bargain. Especially when you take in to consideration the quality of this stuff; all of the sequins on my leggings were hand sewn on, which would’ve taken an age. But they are wonderful and it means your own piece is completely unique! 

I will 100% be purchasing from these lovely ladies again and I’m so excited to see more of their new collections when they are released.
