KMS California Tamefrizz Fighter Kit Review

It may sound silly, but hair is one of my favourite things about a person - I really think it speaks volumes about your personality. Everyone’s idea of ‘perfect’ hair is different and every single person has different hair ‘issues’. I’ve always been quite lucky with mine, in the respect that I don’t have to use heaps of products to maintain it’s condition - however my one major niggle is frizz. I try my best not to blow-dry my hair, but sometimes needs must and when I have to do it my hair is WILD. It is so thick, that the only way it knows how to react to heat is to frizz up – which is obviously not ideal, I think that’s why I find it so much easier to style my hair the day after I’ve washed it.

Trialling KMS California’s new fight frizz range was something I got a bit too excited about – usually I hate the thought of washing my hair but I couldn’t wait to see if it had a positive effect. So, let’s run through the products in the range one by one...

Shampoo & Conditioner:

The shampoo lathered up quite nicely however it wasn’t full on, so you know there’s not too many nasties in there making up for their lack of care with frothiness. With some shampoos I find that it makes my hair ever so knotty, meaning the conditioner has to work really hard to smooth it all out – this shampoo rinsed out beautifully and left my hair feeling super nourished (even under the shower). Following on with the conditioner focusing my efforts on massaging the product into the ends of my hair and working up to mid-way (never put conditioner in your roots...GREASE), rinsing it out I was pretty damn impressed. My hair felt so smooth under the water and completely de-tanlged.  

De-Frizz Oil: 
This is my favourite out of the three products. Applying from mid-way to the tips of my towel dried hair before blow-drying this oil is promising to hold on to those extra bits of frizz that the shampoo and conditioner couldn't quite catch and it definitely works it's magic. As I mentioned above, my hair is huge when I blow dry it and this really helped to tame it. I've also been keeping this in my handbag to use over the ends of my hair when I'm out and about to help if the air is damp etc. 

The smell of all the products is heavenly, quite musky and sweet and it leaves your hair smelling of the product but it’s not at all over powering - a little bit like Theirry Mugler's Angel, but more subtle. Overall I'm impressed with the results - it definitely does what is says on the tin and leaves my hair smelling lovely. I think however, I would replace the conditioner with one tailored towards split ends just so I'm getting the nourishment my hair needs.

Please do take in to account that these products aren't for dry or damaged hair and none of them will protect the hair, they will just help to keep frizz and flyaways at bay.

A Roc'n Birthday

Over the weekend, I turned [gasp] 31.  Cough. Cough.

I just kept telling people I was celebrating the tenth anniversary of my 21st birthday.  Ha!  There is something a little unsettling about officially being IN my thirties...but I have to say, 31 isn't looking so bad after all.  

I had the best day celebrating!

I spent the afternoon at Beau Monde Salon and Spa in Victor.  I got a massage with Sonia and then a blow out with Jordan.  Both of them are fantastic.  I'm a repeat customer.  Love, love, love!  They both come highly recommended.

Fast forward to dinner...

Here I am enjoying some complimentary bubbly at the Erie Grill.  See that smile?  That's the face of someone who was just given a pretty spectacular spa-day gift card for the Spa at the Delmonte by her fantastic husband.  Can't wait to use that baby!

It was our first time dining at the Erie Grill and we were really impressed with everything.  The atmosphere was great.  We enjoyed a drink at the bar as we watched the sun set over the canal.  The food was some of the best I've had in Rochester.  Everything I ate was delicious - the beet salad was spectacular, the cioppino to-die-for, and the flour-less chocolate cake was pure heaven.  The Erie Grill is definitely being added to our ever-growing list of favorite restaurants in Rochester.

So, yeah, I might be getting old, but at least I'm doing it with style and discovering all the best that Rochester has to offer!

Not too shabby huh?  You seriously need to schedule a blowout with Jordan.  He's the best.  And his shampoos - well, you'll just have to experience one to know what I mean ;)

To Fringe or Not to Fringe? That is the Question..

Back in 2008 I saw myself rocking a full on fringe. I popped into my hairdressers and said do something completely different - I'm bored, so he cut it in...when he span me round to show me my hair in the mirror at the end, I cried. I absolutely hated it, it made my face look so different and I just didn't like it whatsoever. After sobbing for a few days I realised perhaps I was being a drama queen (no, really?? that's not like you Megs), and really I quite liked it. Well, it stayed on my head that way for a few years and I ended up loving it. 

Nearly 5 years later I'm finding myself getting bored of my hairstyle (I know, me and every other girl) and thought...hmm perhaps my fringe needs to make a comeback? I thought I'd show you guys a few pictures of me back then to help aid your decision (because of course, you're making it for me)...

You can probably tell from the piccies that the fringe is styled to shape my face and has quite a lot of feathering going on. I'm thinking that I'd quite like to go for a more blunt cut and keep my layers long - like the look the beaut Carly Rae Jepson is currently rocking (p.s. she's totally stolen my hair colour).

How I Style My Hair | Enrapture Jumbo Waver

I am completely overwhelmed at the amazing response to my Enrapture giveaway, there have been heaps of entries and it seems everyone wants to get their hands on a pair. So, I thought that it might be quite nice to film a little tutorial to show you guys how I achieved the look and how easy they are to use...

They are my new favourite thing and I’m loving experimenting with them and achieving different looks – I particularly love how they create a volumized ponytail.

Enrapture is fast becoming my favourite go-to heat styling company, my totem styler has seen my ghds are made redundant at the back of my drawers; and today I have another one of their exciting tools to introduce to you.

You know when you sometimes fancy looking like a mermaid and plait your hair the night before you go to sleep, with the hope that you’ll wake up with lightly crimped hair? Yeah – mine never looks good when I do that, it’s always a massive frizz ball and I end up putting it into a bun. The Jumbo Waver: Not only does it create instant volume – (the large plates can’t help but to lift up and out!) it only took me 10 minutes to style my entire head of hair. Soft, gentle, giant waves - I think I actually prefer this look to curls now!

With regards to using this it’s so simple – it has a temperature control to determine how much heat you want to apply to the hair. For example, if you have really fine hair you probably wouldn’t need them to be on full temperature to achieve the desired look. You may be able to tell from the pictures that this is quite a large tool (no, I’m not being naughty!) but don’t let that put you off – it’s lightweight and it doesn’t feel at all big when you’re actually styling your hair.

I styled mine from the roots right to the bottom – and with my hair length I had to move the waver down the selected hair piece 2-3 times before moving on to the next section. Of course, if you don’t want to do it right from the roots you don’t have to, I just like the bohemian volumised look that achieves.

It comes beautifully packaged – it feels very luxurious and expensive, with a heat resistant bag for travelling. As with the totem styler, the jumbo waver holds the waves all day. I went to the X-Factor tour last Saturday, I did my hair at 10am and still had my waves perfectly in place at 12am (when I went to bed!). I didn’t even use hairspray, I simply spritzed my hair with some sea salt spray, to ensure that extra ‘beachy’ look and away I went!

Enrapture aren’t the cheapest and these retail at £74.99 – but are currently on offer at Argos for £59.99. For some it might seem quite steep but I’m sure a lot of you have invested in ghds which hit the £100 mark! And I’d say this brand are definitely on par, if not better – it’s a real investment for any lady who longs to achieve long-lasting curls and in no time at all.

Over on my little YouTube channel, I have had many a request to film my 'Hair Care Routine'. I am warning you now, be prepared to waste about 5 mintues of your life if you watch this video, because I probably have the most boring, plain routine known to man! 

Like most things in my beauty regime, I like to keep my hair care quite simple. And although I love trying and testing new products, in all honesty I am very lazy, so once I find something that really works for me I stick to it. In my experience, too much product is definitely not the way forward. Keeping it simple leaves my hair full and manageable!

Messy Up Do | Bun Tutorial | Video #5

Wahooooo, it’s Friday! I don’t know about anyone else, but how bloomin’ long has this week been?! I haven’t looked forward to a weekend so much in a long time. 

Anyway, here’s video #5 for ya’ll. It’s my first tutorial, so be kind. I felt a bit silly doing it, but every time I film a video I always ask at the end if anyone fancies seeing anything in particular, & the only thing that’s ever asked is ‘please can you do a bun tutorial’. There’s got to be over a million & one videos of girlies showing you how they achieve this look, but for some reason you guys wanted to see mine....

So, without further ado *inserts drum roll* here it is….me looking like a complete plonker in front of the camera :)
