Flouncy in Floral

Blouse c/o: Mina UK. Skirt: Dahlia. Boots: Hudson. Bag: Zara. Hat: Topshop
Hello my lovelies. I took these snaps before I moved house and in particular for the lovely Lilmisschickas as a guest post whilst she is away on holiday. But of course I wanted to share it with you too! It’s still not 40 degrees, so my tights are firmly on and I am compensating with a beautiful lightweight blouse from Mina that feels like it’s not even there (thank god it is, that could be embarrassing). I absolutely love the colours and the fact that it can be worn in a variety of ways like I’ve done above, or perhaps over the top of a pair of leggings, letting it all hang out, so to speak – it’s actually in the sale at the moment so snap it up whilst it’s hot ladies! I’ve paired it with my newest Dahlia Fashion skirt, which I picked up in the sale for £20 (winning), their sales are incredible and I constantly find myself falling in love with every piece!

On a sad note I’m feeling totally gutted about James Gandolfini (Tony from the Sopranos) passing away, it’s one of my all time favourite shows and he was such a brilliant actor - really tragic.

This morning we had the new carpet fitted in our ‘boudoir’, so this weekend we will be assembling our beaut of a bed and painting up some furniture ready to move in to it (we’re currently sleeping in the spare room).  Exciting times guyssss :)

Overall I’m feeling rather summery and loving that our jackets are being put to one side, even if it is just for a week or two...

How is your week going so far?

On Booty Shorts and Mini Skirts

Brittany FOwler from Pardon My Fashion talk abouts slut shaming and feminism in vintage liz clairborne sweater vintage floral dress DIY necklace and vintage 90's shoesI don’t know if I’ve got some faulty wiring up there or something, but the answer to “Is this too short?” will always be and enthusastic, “Hell no.” Who likes short shorts? I like short shorts…and dresses and skirts, too. (Style Pro-Tip: Balance a leggy mini with long sleeves.) I like minis because they make you (well, myself at least) feel kinda saucy; flirty and femme and fun. And I rather like people who are flirty, femme, and fun…sounds like a damn good time to me. As I get older, I feel like there is pressure to become more conservative on matters of mini skirts and booty shorts. Like my peers, I feel like I should be questioning, “How can she wear that out in public? What was she thinking? No self-respecting woman would wear that…I mean doesn’t she want men to respect her?” UM…hold up. Sounds like the dudes problem to me. I can’t really get behind the attitude that if you are dressed like a ‘slut’ (ie. showing lots of skin) that somehow warrants men to treat you like shit? OMG epiphany…I’m not the one with faulty wiring…it’s dudes! Dudes, listen, every woman is fully capable of wearing Daisy Dukes and a bra top while at the same time ‘respecting’ herself and knowing that she has worth beyond her gorgeous physical appearance. We enjoy being sexy and being intelligent individuals...all at the same time. So regardless of whether we’re wearing a Burqua or a string bikini…YOU can go ahead and just treat us all the same way you would treat every human being. (And ladies, it would be nice if we all did the same…don’t ya think?) Even if our mini skirt does make you trip over your words sometimes ;)

Thrifted sweater. Thrifted dress. Thrifted Shoes. Thrifted hat. F21/DIY-hacker necklace.

Until next time,

Brittany

Feeling a bit Floral | Crown & Glory

About a year ago, I discovered a beautiful little shop on the internet. Crown & Glory. I am a sucker for any pretty hair accessory, so when I came across this brand I was super duper happy. From turbans to crowns; each piece is individually handmade by the lovely Sophie, & a lot of the pieces are made to order, so you’re guaranteed an original item, every time. Something about that just makes it extra special doesn’t it?

Having built up a rather large collection of her pieces over the last year, I thought I would show you my most recent purchase:
don't worry...i'm not naked ;)

I bought the Marina - Fuschia Daisy Bandeau & I am absolutely in love. It’s such a beautifully delicate piece, which makes such a bold statement. I picked this one up in the up to 50% off sale and the little beauty was only £9! Amazing right. The whole range is so reasonably priced; and fills what I believe is a huge gap in the accessories market. Yes, there are heaps of shops that cater for hair accessories, but I am yet to find one that has such intricate detail, at such a fantastic price. There is a vast variety of items available, yet each piece is so wonderfully put together, with such care & attention. Plus, the customer service is incredible; always a speedy and ridiculously friendly response. And even better, Crown & Glory can even make up your own individual piece; so if you had an idea that wasn’t quite like what is available on the website, they’ll more than likely be able to cater for your needs.

I just love everything about this wonderful little spot on the web.

Have you ever purchased from Crown & Glory before? Or do you think you will now?
