Cher Horowitz Realness

Chelsea Fowler of Pardon My Fashion Blog in Vintage Pink Leather DKNY skirt, Vintage Laundry by Shelli Segal Sweater, vintage Bottega Veneta Pumps Clueless inspired fashion cher horowitz grunge thrift store salvation army

Serving up some Cher Horrowitz realness today, no? Fashionably speaking, movies have always inspired me and obvi Clueless has become a cult classic for it’s delicious and unapologetic interpretation of 90’s fashion in the 90210. While the rest of America’s youth were rocking their grungy thrift store flannels and stomping around in Doc Martens, 90210 fashion was all about Rodeo Drive, Calvin Klein, Alaia, Fred Segal, and expensive satin shoes- the very antithesis of the grunge movement that was popular at the time (or so I’ve heard). Of course, as we’ve already discussed here on PMF, Marc Jacobs did attempt to introduce a luxe interpretation of grunge fashion to the 90210 circle, but the collection didn’t perform. I guess it don’t matter how rich you are; why buy a top dollar “knockoff” flannel when you can get the real thing for $3 at any local Salvation Army? Well two can play at that game, rich bitches. Why should I buy top dollar designer when I can get the real thing at any local Salvation army for $3? Behold, a head-to-toe designer ensemble, all purchased at Salvation Army, for a grand total of: $18. PWNAGE.

PS- You know how sometimes you buy a pair of shoes and your like, “OK so these shoes are officially reserved for occasions where a majority of my time will be spent sitting.” Ya that’s totally my new Bottega Veneta shoes. DGAF.

Until next time,

Chelsea

The Future Is Now

Chelsea of Pardon My Fashion Grunge Vintage Clock Coat Vintage Floral Dress Thrifted Neon Beanie

This is my time-traveling coat. For when I travel...through time. The clocks make me think of time, and thinking about time can be a tricky thing. I wonder if we can ever live in a world where generally speaking, people value time over money? I always thought that would be my kinda place. Britt sent me this quote the other day and it punched me in the face, so I thought I would punch all of you in the face, too. You’re welcome :)

“As a child, you are sent to nursery school. In nursery school, they say you are getting ready to go to kindergarten. And then first grade coming up and second grade and third grade. They say you are gradually climbing the ladder, making progress. And then in high school, they tell you you’re getting ready for college. And in college you’re getting ready to go out into the business world with your suit and diploma. And you go to your first sales meeting, and the say, ‘Now get out there and sell this stuff.’ They say you’ll be going on up the ladder in business if you sell it, and maybe you’ll get a promotion. And you sell it, and they up your quota. And then, finally at about the age of forty-five, you wake up one morning as vice president of the firm and you say to yourself, ‘I’ve arrived! But I’ve been cheated. Something is missing. I no longer have a future.’ ‘Wrong,’ says the insurance salesman. ‘I have a future for you. This policy will enable you to retire in comfort at sixty-five, and now you can look forward to that.’ And you’re delighted. You buy the policy, and at sixty-five you retire, thinking that this is surely the attainment, the goal of life. Except that now you have prostate trouble, false teeth, and wrinkled skin. And you’re a materialist. You’re a phantom. You’re an abstraction. You are nowhere because you were never told, and you never realized that eternity is now. There is no time.”

Vintage coat. Vintage dress. Thrifted beanie. Demonia creepers.

Until next time,

Chelsea

Snug as a Bug | Outfit Post

If you follow me on twitter, then you may have spotted a tweet a week or so ago mentioning that I’d gone from owning absolutely zilch leather clothing – to owning two pieces in one day!
I’ve always been one that embraces the swishy – floaty – fairy princess in my clothing but for one reason or another I’ve quite fancied being a bit more…grungy? I don’t know why, but I’m the girl who always used to be a bit scared of leather…for fear of looking like a try hard or that I might be stepping too far away from my comfort in vintage pieces, but my mind has been changed.

Coat: Zara. Boots: TK Maxx. Shorts: c/o Oh My Love. Blouse: Vintage. Belt: Vintage. Hat: Vintage.

So this is officially my new favourite outfit, which I wore to London on a day trip this week. A jolly good friend is back from a year in Turkey for a mere 3 days before jetting off again to America so we soaked up some proper English Christmas tradition and did a spot of sightseeing. I’m thinking I might do a little post with a few snaps I took of the sights, Yay? Nay? It really is such a beautiful city.

I feel surprisingly cosy and effortless in this and how warm is leather? I didn’t even realise! These pleather shorts from Oh my Love are perfect winter attire, comfy enough to wear casually with a plain tee and smart enough to snazzy up with a bit of bling for a night out. I’ve gone for somewhere in the middle and feel so comfortable in them! They fit nice and snugly, with none of that “Erm girl, I can see a bit too much of what’s under those shorts and it’s not pretty” if you know what I mean? And teamed with my new Zara coat I feel ready to face the winter months without having to pile on the layers committing fashion suicide. Personally I think they’re a match made in heaven and I’m snug as a bug. I’ve also thrown in a trusty vintage silk number to soften the outfit up a little.

p.s. You may start to notice I wear a LOT of black during winter. But I promise for pops of colour here and there :) I’ll try to not be too depressing in my attire ;)

How do you feel about leather? Is it something you’ve embraced?
