My Daily Make-Up Routine #2 | Video

What I'm Wearing: TOP: Urban Outfitters. NECKLACE: Kirsteen Stewart
Hello my lovelies. I thought it was about time I filmed an updated daily make-up routine for my YouTube channel. Let me tell you there is nothing more daunting than posting your naked face on the internet, especially when you feel super self conscious about parts of it. But, we are all friends (I hope) and I get asked on a regular basis what I do or what products I use so what better way than show you from scratch. Also - we all have to get over our fears at some point huh? I know there will probably be a few nasties but I always feel lucky to have the lovely people that are so positive and caring, so thank you for being fabulous! I've listed all the products I've used below, so if you don't fancy watching the video you don't have to!

I hope you enjoy it. Much love, xxx

Heaven is a Place on Earth

Hat:Topshop. Jumper: c/o COW. Leggings: Topshop. Sandals: Topshop
There is never a dull moment when a vintage jumper is in your life and I can’t count on my hands and feet combined the amount I have. I popped this one on the other day and Daniel said ‘that’s very you, and very much like all the other ones you have’ which made me chuckle (only because it’s true). I love a good embellishment and the fact that this jumper is bright pink equals a match made in Megan heaven.

You know I love to be comfortable and there’s nothing better than whacking on a super soft baggy jumper over a pair of leggings and just being done with it.

I really love reading through the comments that you wonderful lot leave on my posts, and one thing I find that comes up more often than not is ‘Love this look, but I’d never dare wear it!’ – So...I by no means class myself as anything out of the ordinary when it comes to fashion but I just wanted to say that when I pick clothes, I very rarely think much about anything. That doesn’t sound very good does it, but I just mean if you see something and you think you like it, more often than not you’d be surprised at how you can make it work with what is already in your wardrobe. It just takes a bit of patience and imagination.

If you’d like to see some posts or perhaps a ‘how to’ video on styling statement pieces, do let me know!

Much love, xxx

Collective Haul ft. Topshop, American Apparel & More! | Video

I always prefer doing my ‘hauls’ in a video rather than a full blog post. It’s so much quicker but also I think seeing items in motion means you can get more of a feel for what they actually look like, if that makes sense?

So, today’s video is a collective haul full of beauty products, makeup, clothes and some rather spiffing moomin pyjamas!

I’m going to try my best to keep to a schedule of posting one video per week, filming on a Thursday and posting on a Friday. Do let me know if you have any requests for this week’s video, at the moment I’m thinking a simple monthly favourites?

TOPSHOP GIVEAWAY!

Crop Top: Topshop. Mom Jeans: c/o Ark. Sandals: Topshop. Earrings: Topshop
I think no matter how hard we try, how many dupes we discover or how much our bank balance screams we will never be able to avoid the pure delight that is Topshop.

I’ve got better – my visits to the website are controlled and infrequent but whenever I do let myself have a splurge it’s never disappointing. Grabbing myself a t-shirt, earrings and a pair of shoes for £50...well I’m quite impressed. Although my little sisters first impression was that I looked like a football referee, I’m quite taken with this top – I love the oversized sleeves and baggy fit. Pat Butcher earrings have always been my ‘thing’ and there was no stopping me when I spotted these bad boys. Lastly the oh so adorable little shoes...they make me feel like I’m back at pre-school and that I should probably be sporting them with some knee high white socks and I think my Ark mom jeans make the perfect fit!

So...I know what you’re thinking what’s the giveaway? You guys really do mean a lot to me and even though my blog is only taking the teeniest slither of the internet I really do love that you read my ramblings and I like to be able to return the favour when I can! So, AO.com have kindly offered a £50 Topshop voucher for one of you lovelies to enjoy! I’m going to make it super easy to enter so there will be just 2 requirements:

  • You MUST be a follower of Wonderful You on either GFC or Bloglovin’ (I will be checking!)
  • Please leave a comment below, with your name, email address and why you’d like to win.

The giveaway is open worldwide and will run for 2 weeks. A winner will be picked at random and announced on Friday 6thSeptember.

Thank you again for being awesome and let's all give AO a big thank you too!

If I were a Flower, I'd be a Sunflower.

Hat: Topshop. Top: H&M Basics. Dungarees: American Apparel. Brouges: ASOS
Daniel and I made a trip to the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham last weekend - I needed to get my friend a birthday present and Daniel quite fancied treating himself to a few bits :) we had such a lovely day, mooching around and stopping off for lunch at our favourite restaurant ekachai, which does the BEST crispy duck salad ever, ever.

I'm a little tight for pennies at the moment, needless to say shopping hasn't really been on my agenda. So when I spotted these dungarees in American Apparel's spot in Selfridge's I nearly died. You know when you see something and you both know instantly that it was just meant to be? Yeah, that. Well...if dungarees had feelings I'm sure they would've thought that, but y'know we can pretend. I just can't explain how much I love them, as soon as I put them on I feel happy. When Daniel asked me if I'd like them I nearly threw up...1. because they are terribly expensive and 2. because he is so lovely to even offer...

...But I couldn't say no!! They're probably one of the most expensive items of clothing I own...and to be honest at £80 I wouldn't say it's 'worth' it, but for me I know I'll get my (Daniel's) monies wear, not to mention the incredible quality and comfort that comes along with them, they're 100% my favourite item of clothing, probably ever. I think it's fab to have one item of clothing in your wardrobe that you think is really special, and for me, these dungarees are that.
So a huge thank you to Daniel for being amazing and also to American Apparel for being just a tad awesome.

What do you think? Are you a fan of dungarees? Or even sunflowers for that matter?!

My Home Wishlist #1 | Dressing up your Dining Table!

Table Cloth, Floral Coaster, Spoon Placemat, Stag Set, Feather Placemat, Bird Coaster
If you read through my first edition to the home-y blog posts featuring my kitchen you’ll know that I spent that weekend painting, sanding, waxing and polishing our kitchen table to get it looking more to our taste – country kitchen meets shabby chic. The next stage will be buying accessories to dress the table up a little for when we have dinner parties – or just feel like being a bit jazzy on a weekday evening.

These table accessories from John Lewis are absolutely gorgeous and this shop is definitely my point of call when it comes to the kitchen. Having got our toaster and kettle from there (snaps here) I can sense a bit of a theme occurring. I particularly love the butterfly table cloth and all the pieces I’ve picked out are surprisingly affordable, if not a little bit of a treat. When you move in to your first home budget is key and each month I save myself a little bit of spending money, I think I might just have to save a few months worth of pennies and treat myself to the whole shebang (unless you guys are feeling generous ;))

Have you invested some time and money in any home improvements? I’d love to get some inspiration from you guys!

You Can't Sit With Us!

Regina Tee: c/o The Lost Lanes. Levi Shorts: Urban Outfitters. Backpack: Urban Outfitters. Boots: Daniel Footwear. Hat: Topshop
Mean Girls has to be one of the best chick flicks of all time. I'm pretty sure years on, I could still quote every word and no - I'm not ashamed!! When The Lost Lanes got in contact, a beautiful East London based online store that sells independent designers amazing creations, I was excited. It's so lovely to discover a haven where you can explore all sorts of fashion; and this beaut of a tee is from These Folk. 'You can't sit with us' is one of my favourite lines in the film and Regina George is such a brilliant character.

This outfit is definitely a go-to for comfort, effortless but easily jazzed up with an aztec backpack and floppy hat.

Was Mean Girls one of your favourites too? Danny Devito - I love your work!!!

Vintage vs. You

Hat: Topshop. Blouse: Urban Outfitters. Necklace: Kirsteen Stewart. Belt: Vintage. Skirt: Cow. Bag: Cow. Brogues: ASOS
There is nothing I enjoy more with fashion than dressing new with old, loved with pristine. It certainly helps to add dimension to the way you dress and there’s a sweet satisfaction with wearing vintage - knowing you’re the only person in the world who owns that piece of clothing. Another thing I always seem to find is that clothes just fit so much better; it’s like the more we’ve evolved with fashion the worse we seem to manufacture and good quality fabric, sewing and structure are so important for pieces you are going to love and cherish for years to come. Let’s face it, you couldn’t exactly hand down a Primark dress to your granddaughter, so my question is, when it can cost the same to shop vintage as it can high street why aren’t we doing it more?!

Teaming my new brogues and last winter’s Urban Outfitters blouse with a vintage belt, bag and skirt I feel like a new-age 80’s chick. Cow, is a vintage shop I first discovered when I lived in Nottingham, their stores are gorgeous and their collection certainly doesn't disappoint. They seem to have every item of clothing you could ever dream of and at the most affordable prices. This bag is in excellent condition and the skirt is the comfiest, softest little number I’ve owned in years - and don't get me started on the print, I'm just too in love.

Do you shop vintage? And if so...do you too enjoy mixing it up with high street picks?

Fantastically Wonderful Advertisers | August 2013

Every month I have some rather lovely people tucked in my sidebar. And you guessed it, the time has come to have a little chat about how wonderful they are..

How She Wears It
Tasha is a blogger from over the pond in NYC (uber jealous). You can expect posts about beauty and fashion along with the off YouTube video thrown in for good measure. Her make-up is FLAWLESS and I particularly love watching her tutorials. This one being a firm favourite - I mean how amazing do her lips look!! She is definitely an undiscovered talent, so what are you waiting for? GO GO GO!

Hello Freckles
Tasha, you had me at the blog name *swoons*. This girl is such a natural beauty, I look at her skin and lovely little face and think 'I want to steal it'. Yes, you'll find beauty and fashion posts here. But you'll also see a lot of life-y things too, which I bloomin' love. For example her playlist posts where you can discover music you perhaps hadn't before. Gah what can I say...GIRL CRUSH.

Olive and Frank
This beauty of a shop has been with Wonderful You for as long as I can remember. I'm sure if you haven't already hopped on over to this vintage inspired haven that you will be pleasantly surprised at the amazing variety of pieces and affordability. There isn't an item in this shop that I wouldn't wear and to achieve that as a brand is pretty awesome, non? Gimme it all!!

I hope you found some new reads and purchased yourself a pair of these badboys!  I'm off to get stuck in to these scrumptious ladies latest posts and swoon over clothing I really shouldn't (but will be) buying.

Don't forget - if you'd like to advertise your blog or shop with me all packages are available here for your viewing!

Times They Are A Changin

You know how on December 26th you wake up feeling kinda depressed that Christmas is over? Like, how it kind of lingers and you sorta pretend it’s still there and it still feels like Christmas time but...it’s not. It’s gone and that’s just that. Well that’s how I felt after Chelsea moved last Wednesday. Yes...Chelsea has gone off to live on her own in the lil college town of Chico, 8 hours north of The Bubble, drop-dead in the middle of nowhere. So proud of that lil chica, albeit no less depressed that my PIC is gone. Meanwhile, that very same week I started a fancy new job as “Social Media Specialist” for an OC based fashion brand... #ExecutiveRealness. So, Chels is off to college to get more knowledge and I’m starting my climb up the corporate ladder. Times they are a changin’- and I guess that means the blog will be a changin’ too. Consistency is something that this blog never has, and never will stand for!

Here are some photos I've taken of Chels over the years. I LOVE taking photos. But usually only of people I know, who won't be all self conscious in front of me. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Until next time,

 Brittany

Our Home #1 | The Kitchen

Tea, Coffee & Sugar Pots: Dunelm Mill. Table & Chairs: eBay. Bar Stool: c/o Lakeland Furniture. Clock: Homesense. Kitchen Roll Holder: Not on the High Street.
I was thinking since I talk so bloomin’ much about my new home that it might be quite appropriate to share a few snaps of the rooms with your wonderful selves. Starting off with where I spend the majority of my time...the Kitchen. I have to admit that this is probably my favourite place in the house. When I envisaged my first kitchen I never imagined having something as lovely as this; to me it feels like a proper country kitchen and it’s so light and airy I could just sit at the island supping peppermint tea for hours on end. Obviously, that rarely happens you’ll usually find me mop in hand! Oh...wouldn’t I make the perfect Cinderalla ;)

Mum and Dad bought us the toaster and kettle and they’re my favourite things. They have them in white too, which look pretty awesome but knowing me I’d just get them absolutely filthy. Daniel is always saying how I get more food on the floor than in the actual pots and pans.

These barstools are the comfiest things our tooshies have ever sat on and they slot in perfectly under the island so there’s no trip hazard (hello klutz) haha. When you sit down the seat sinks a little to adjust to your weight which gives such sturdy support and the leather finish makes them really easy to wipe down and clean (food fingers).

Mum and I spent the afternoon painting, sanding and waxing the table and chairs. They were in a bit of a sorry state before but I'm really happy with how they turned out! Not bad for a set that only cost us £20, eh?

The clock is also a firm favourite – a bargainous £25 from Homesense. Have you been to this shop? If not, find your local store and GO it’s so well priced and has amazing pieces.

So, that’s our kitchen! Do let me know if this sort of post floats your boat and if you’d like to see more? Some rooms are still a work in progress, i.e. the lounge, but the bedroom is pretty much done now :)

Hope you've all had a fabulous weekend!
